Tools for Global Communication.
There are many incredible tools and resources for a K-12 classroom to enhance communication
across the globe. The sad reality is that not all schools or classrooms have them. I think the only one truly needed is internet and a computer. Although not ideal the available free tools on the internet offer teachers many excellent options. I think social media is one of the most important tools we can use for promoting education and good global citizenship. Although many people do not look at social media for education purposes. We can use blogs to communicate with people around the globe on all different topics. Youtube videos are also an excellent tool. I personally like photo sharing website for teaching culture because the students love to see different buildings, foods, and environments. I find using these tools makes it a lot easier to motivate them to learn about other cultures.

Web 2.0 Benefits in Education
There are many benefits to integrating technology into education. As educators we must learn tools available to us and how to properly use them. Students of this generation learning differently than their educators. They use technology for example, blogs, videos, and Google searches to promote their own education.
As educators we can use technology to give students a more personalized education. We can use different Web 2.0 technologies for different styles of learners. For example students who are visual learners can watch Animotos. Students who are auditory learners can listen and watch Youtube videos.
Blogs are also an excellent tool to integrate into class. Parents can view students course work and communicate with teachers. Teachers can also make resources available for students 24 hours a day, so they don't lose their homework. Blogs also promote discussion of classroom activities which promotes further comprehension of classroom materials.
